The Institute for Informatical Innovation is a research and development institution aiming to further the study and increase the utilisation of informatical systems.

Key areas of study and development are telecommunications, mobile systems, networking systems, multimedia systems, intelligent systems, complex algorithms (such as security or compression) and personal/social computing.

Based in the Castle in Sveti Križ Začretje (owned by the Institute’s initiator Dr. Janko Mršić-Flögel) the Institute has ample space for envisaged research and development activities coupled with significant space for scientific and commercial presentations / networking events and for educational activities.

The Castle, when fully refurbished, will be equipped with wired and wireless Ethernet/Internet access allowing over 50 connected workplaces, a 240-seat presentation theatre, conference rooms and meeting rooms with audio-visual and wireless LAN support. Server and data storage facility will also be provided.

The Institute will mostly focus on short to medium term near-market research that can be utilised by industry to generate returns in a 2-5 year timeframe. It will also serve as an information technology incubator focusing on narrow specialist areas that merit project productisation and placement on the market. Market placement of technology and technology-related social networking activities will be a part of the Institute’s mission, allowing the Institute to participate in IT-related programmes such as MZOS’ JEZGRA. By working through our industry partners, the Institute aims to gain easier access to global markets for its products and technologies.
